Horror in Arkham is an evolving and cooperative card game in which players play as investigators who work together to unravel esoteric conspiracies and mysteries, while individually seeking to defeat the personal demons that haunt their past. Each player assumes the role of a single investigator and builds a deck around that character's abilities.
The plot takes place in the town of Arkham, Massachusetts. A small group of investigators is conducting the investigation to discover the true nature of a terrible threat that threatens all humanity.
There are many horrors in the arcane kingdom. Investigators will need to monitor their investigation while maintaining a tenuous hold on their mental health to survive.
Horror in Arkham: The Card Game, a scenario game
A series of interconnected scenarios creates a narrative campaign in which a more general mystery is elucidated. In each of these scenarios, investigators cross and ex-bend a number of threatening places, look for clues that will allow them to advance history, and try to avoid or defeat the terrible forces of the Myth.
As the campaign unfolds, each investigator gets experience and sagacity, allowing him to grow by adding new higher-level cards to his deck.

Throughout the game, players will have a large number of choices to make. Instigators will be encouraged to work together and plan what they plan to accomplish in each round. Even if investigators can collectively plan their rounds, each player retains all authority over the actions that his own in-vestigator performs.

New maps and adventures will appear at a steady pace in future expansions to make Arkham Horror an evolutionary game. Players will be able to customize the contents of this basic box and create their own decks.

A game campaign has several phases:
- Investigation phase: Investigators are at the heart of the game. The choices they will make depend on the situation and the investigator in question.
- Enemy Phase: Enemies are after investigators who can be attacked at any time!
- Interview phase: Heroes and their opponents take stock and prepare for the pro-chain round.
- Myth phase: occult forces stand up against investigators and seek to advance their own intrigues.
The Great Ancients are waiting. Who among you will be able to discover their secrets and survive to testify to them?
