Sub Terra is a gripping cooperative horror board game for one to six players, ideal for fans of strategy games. As members of a team of spelunkers, you find yourselves trapped in the dark depths after an accident. Your survival depends on your ability to work together effectively to escape this perilous situation. Resources are limited, especially light, and every second counts to avoid being lost forever in the darkness.

Strategies and Challenges in Sub Terra

Time is your enemy in this strategy board game. With resources like light and oxygen running out quickly, it is crucial to plan wisely to get out unscathed. Whether you choose to split up to cover more ground or stay together to minimize risks, every decision can be vital. Dangers are constant, and a single misstep can require a rescue by your teammates. Tension rises: are you really alone in these caverns?

Game Phases and Objectives

Sub Terra plays out over around twenty turns, driven by the Danger Cards. Each turn includes four essential phases:
  • Action Phase : Players take turns acting.
  • Horror Phase : The horrors move toward the spelunkers.
  • Danger Phase : A Danger card is resolved, adding challenges.
  • End of Turn : The progress marker is adjusted.
Turns continue until all survivors are on the Exit tile or there are no more spelunkers in the cave. Points are awarded to players on the Exit tile, and success is measured by the number of players who remained underground, ranked Gold, Silver, Bronze, or Defeat.
