Alas, ambition rekindles discord: Polynices, supported by Argos, marches against his brother with seven champions at the city gates. While Theban nobles rally to Eteocles, the walls tremble and the people take up arms.

At the heart of the City, the Cadmée — the ancient citadel — has lain in ruins since the reign of Laius. Many see the hand of the Fates against Thebes. Yet a rumor grows among influential families: it is time to restore the Cadmée and return to the city of Dionysus its former prestige. In this historical and immersive board game, you take the role of a noble leader at the end of the Bronze Age, determined to rebuild, trade and defend the besieged gates.

Mechanics of Thebai: a rich, tense strategy board game

The game is played over 10 rounds, each split into two main phases. During the action phase, roll the Citizen die, mobilize your resources and move your Archon on the Cadmée to build districts, trigger exports (bronze, pottery, grape) and gain influence. Then comes the destiny phase, where your accomplishments and your ability to protect the seven gates score valuable points. After final scoring, the player with the most victory points wins.
